Significance of Shiv Mahapuran Katha

Religious texts discuss a plethora of strategies for reducing or eliminating sins, which ultimately open the door to salvation. In the past, students would reside in Gurukulas and study the Vedas under the careful supervision and tutelage of a Guru. In reality, they used to perform penance here and subsist on raw fruits, roots, and vegetables (Kanda Moola Phalas). However, a devotee will gain far more from reading or listening to Puranas—especially Shiva Purna—than from performing penance. Just as vital as the warmth of the Sun God or the serenity of the Moon God is the understanding of the Puranas.
